  I frequent this pub regularly with my friends, the pub is rather out of the way but with myself as a non-drinker it isn't an issue for us.
  
  The pub has two sections, a restaurant area which is always fairly busy, mostly with noisy families. The other section, which is considerably smaller, is the pub side which is usually mostly empty which is why we like it.
  
  I wouldn't say it has a traditional pub atmosphere, but the reasons we like it are as follows:
  
  - Quiet (the pub side anyway). This means we can always have a conversation without being strained. We can also have a good laugh and not feel like we are disturbing anyone.
  
  - Friendly staff - Since the new management took over there seems to be a a more frequent turnaround of staff, however they are still very usually friendly and helpful.
  
  - Price. again, the since the new management took over, the prices have hiked, but the drinks are still cheaper than other pubs nearer town. The food is also good value.
  
  - The food. I wouldn't say the carvery is the greatest, however there is plenty else on the menu. The new pizzas (cooked by hand from scratch) are however excellent! There are some interesting topping options, I particularly like the Duck and Hoisin pizza. The new cook is very enthusiastic and gives the impression he genuinely enjoys cooking pizza. The desserts are also very good - plenty of choice for those with a sweet tooth. It isn't fine dining by any measure but for a good snack to eat at the bar you can't go far wrong - much better than wetherspoons has to offer and for similar prices.
  
  - Comfortable. In the bar area there is plenty of comfortable soft seats, and a couple of booths to cater for larger groups.
